I am just preparing my Radio Show focusing on the Topic of “Dreams – An Analysis”
My guest, Carol Morgan, is a Dream Counselor and Speaker here in Fort Lauderdale – and I am curious about her views. I am looking into interpretations of dreams like Sigmund Freud’s “It is all about Sex, Penis and Vagina” – what for sure is not true. I just dreamed about roaches myself. I cannot see the relation between sex and roaches.
Then there is Carl Jung who interprets dreams as originations of primal needs and repressed wishes. Jung felt that dreams allowed us to reflect on our waking selves and solve our problems or thinking through issues.
The third interpretation come from Allan Hobson and Robert McCarthy (1973) who see in dreams only random electrical impulses. The brain would add some stories to make sense of the imagery.
I DON’T THINK SO!
A lot of scientists found solutions to their problem in their dreams for example Einstein. The brain works differently while you are dreaming. It allows you connections you wouldn’t have when your conscious mind is awaken. You see problems from different angles and you see different solutions.
My guest Carol is focusing on learning HOW to remember dreams, how to work with them and how to start a “Dream Diary”.
One of my most beautiful dreams was flying over the ocean in a rainbow, feeling complete freedom and piece. It doesn’t matter what you believe in – science or not – after such a dream you wake up refreshed, energized and ready for a great day! Dream well and have a good night sleep!
